d-i

Until the release of Debian 6.0, Debian GNU/kFreeBSD is just available using bootable daily images found at d-i. debian.org within the kfreebsd-i386 and kfreebsd-amd64 directories.

Reverting d-i's r61645 (which disabled Gtk-based d-i images) was trivial (although while looking back, it was probably unnecessary), and after having messed around with the packages lists (there's a lot of local udebs at this point), especially to add some fonts, we managed to get an image which seems to work fine (at least in my VirtualBox environment).

When installing many machines via PXEboot kickstart / d-i installs, it is often useful to generate pxelinux. cfg files on demand with contents grabbed from a database.

More generally, it's a pity that when people want to get Debian on a new device, be it the G1 phone or the EEE or OpenMoko or what have you; only about half of them seem to do it right, by modifying d-i and sending the modifications back to the installer team.
