  • noun A colorless, bitter alkaloid, C22H28O4N2.H2O, contained in dita-bark, Echites scholaris L. (Alstonia scholaris Brown), from the Philippines, which crystallizes in thick, glassy, lustrous prisms. It is used as a febrifuge. Also called echitamine.
