  • noun In chem., a supposed new element, announced by Grünwald, occupying the same position in Mendeléjeff's eleventh series that tellurium does in the seventh, and presumably identical therefore with the austriacum of Brauner. As yet there is no confirmation of the existence of either of these hypothetical substances.
