The fact that no southern wall of the ephebeion has yet been identified does not create a problem, as this room usually opened towards the south by means of a row of columns which would bring in the sunlight.

On the basis of its location and size (approximately 15 by 12 m), we tentatively identified this room as the ephebeion.

It consists of a large open area, most probably the palaestra (sports 'courtyard), flanked by a series of taller rooms in the north, the larger central one of which may be the ephebeion, the class room for the male youths.

One is clearly dealing here with a gymnasium composed of a large palaestra with the main teaching rooms, among which the central and larger one must be the ephebeion (classroom for youths).
