I was in Cafe Rouge on Manchester Deansgate yesterday, and just left the standard English 10% for a pair of cappuccinos… now should I have added on an ‘etrenne’ in festive deference to the establishment’s Francophile leanings, or witheld the seasonal adjustment on account of the accent of the handsome, dark-skinned waiter- which I suspect owed more to Prestwich than Paris?
