  • A family of parasitic hymenopterous insects, related to the Ichneumonidæ, founded by Westwood in 1840, characterized by the filiform or bristly antennæ with from 13 to 16 joints, pedunculate abdomen, straight and often prominent ovipositor, the front wings with a distinct radial cell and from one to three cubital cells, and the hind wings almost veinless. All the species are parasitic. Also Evaniadæ, Evaniades, Evanidæ, Evaniites.
