If I let Peter and Paul and Nancy publish their Ice & Fire fanfics, and say nothing, then I have no ground to stand on when Bill B. Hack and Ripoff Publishing decide they will publish an Ice & Fire novel and make some bucks.

So in my opinion, the fanfic writers should keep their little fanfics as long as they aren't hurting anyone, just trying to get some practice writing with familiar pre-established settings and characters .. and the authors should keep on disapproving, but not trying to actively stop the fanfic writers (that is, getting their sites taken down, etc)

I admit that fanfics are usually dry and to heavy on the authors opinions and interests.

That was really the problem a lot of people had with Diana's post, not her opinion of fanfiction or that she doesn't want it written for her stories (her stories are actually in the extreme minority as far as fanfiction goes anyway - there is only 38 fanfics for her books on fanfiction. net in comparison to the hundreds of thousands for other works of fiction).

It's a PERFECT way to keep your fanfics and any books you want to read handy without having to lug around a laptop.

I will note one thing however … Â I have picked a few of the featured podcasts, particularly the audio fanfics, and while there is some gold to be mined, there is a LOT of stuff that I think is below average in terms of production and acting.
