Nickname for the Spruce Grouse. When approached by a predator, it relies on camouflage and stillness to stay hidden, often allowing people to approach within a few feet before exploding into flight. The behavior earned it the nickname "fool hen." Clearly, it's not the fool in that particular situation. ;-)
