  • n. 2. A Californian fish of the family Chiridæ, Ophiodon elongatus, sometimes attaining a length of 3 or 4 feet, and highly ranked as a food-fish. Also called cod, bastard cod, buffalo-cod, and cultus-cod. See cut under cultus-cod.
