They’re bright enough to be uncomfortable (at a minimum) if you look right at them … and they are hot enough to melt themselves without adequate heatsinking. go read the specs on Cree or Nichia high lumen LEDs … junction temps will freak you out, and the heatsinking requirements are right there with it.
