  • In De Blainville's classification (1825), one of three subclasses of his Paracephalophora, contrasted with Dioica and Monoica, and containing the orders Cirribranchiata (tooth-shells), Cervicobranchiata (limpets), and Scutibranchiata (sea-ears, limpets). It corresponds somewhat to the Linnean genus Patella.
