  • A family of ceratose sponges, of the order Cornacuspongiæ, typified by the genus Hircinia, having a narrow axial canal in the fibers, and filaments in the ground-substance. It is divided by Lendenfeld into the subfamilies Hircininæ and Hircinissinæ. Also Hircinidæ.
