i must say that i'm one of the paranoid that doesn't use filters on all his lenses, especially my cheap ones. and in the studio ... really, why bother. in the past when i've wanted to protect better lenses when i'm shooting outside i've used hoya s-hmc or b+w mrc. the hoyas are excellent but a serious pain to clean. the b+w are also nice and a lot easier to clean.
