  • noun In chem., an oxid containing a larger proportion of oxygen than some other analogous compound referred to: as, hyperoxid of lead, lead dioxid, PbO2, in which the proportion of oxygen is larger than in litharge, PbO, or red lead, Pb3O4: same as peroxid.
