  • An order of selachian fishes having a well-calcified endoskeleton, pterygoquadrate movably articulated with the cranium, pectoral fins with segmented axis, and diphycercal tail. Members of the order are mostly of late Paleozoic age, but some occur in the early Mesozoic.
