  • noun In the condition in which (it was before): a part of the phrase in statu quo ante fuit, or ante bellum, in the condition in which it was before, or before the war, used with reference to the restoration of any person or property to the situation existing at a previous time (in this case, sometimes, in statu quo ante), or to the maintenance of the present situation unchanged.
