Many advocates of CTM apply the theory, not only at the level of explicit judgements and occurrent desires, but also to a broad array of infraconscious states as well.
Such a theory therefore involves the postulation of a host of symbols and algorithms that are not so much unconscious as infraconscious -- that is, processes that take place at a far simpler level than what philosophers have been accustomed to thinking of as "thoughts".
