  • A tribe of plants of the natural order Rubiaceæ, of which the genus Ixora is the type, and to which the coffee-plant belongs. It includes 11 genera, natives of the tropics of both hemispheres. The plants of this tribe are trees or shrubs with entire stipules, and are chiefly distinguished from those of other tribes by having the lobes of the corolla twisted instead of imbricated or valvate in the bud.
