- noun An American rodent mammal of the family Sacco-myidœ and genus Perognathus; a pocket-mouse. The kangaroo-mice are closely related to the species of Dipodomys (see
kangaroo-rat , 2), but are smaller. They inhabit the same parts of the United States.
