Report Abuse the ummawee khalifa build the mosque years after the khalif's was brought from saudi peninsula to syria during the khalif's marwan days. so before that there was al aqsa mosque but it was in saudi arabia some scholar says that muhammad in al isra wa al miraj meant the actual mosque in his neighbourhood, because at that time there was no islam in palestine at his time, in fact there was only one arabic family in palestine at that time.
