  • noun A genus of ascomycetons fungi of the family Pezizaceæ, having more or less hairy sessile or shortstipitate apothecia and hyaline ellipsoid or spindle-shaped spores. About 130 species have been described. They are widely distributed and occur on dead sticks and stems.
