I know that, in order to have samba working with win98 I have to add this to the globals: lanman auth = Yes client lanman auth = yes client lanman = yes but .... what if I have a network with win98 AND!!!! winXP AND!!!
I looked at my server's smb. conf and found that lanman already had a yes by it.
[global] netbios name = SERVER1 server string = Samba Server Version \% v passdb backend = tdbsam guest account = public username map = / etc / samba / smbusers client NTLMv2 auth = Yes client lanman auth = No client plaintext auth = No valid users = vic, liz, office, public guest ok = Yes printable = Yes
'client lanman auth' is disabled tree connect failed: SUCCESS - 0 the domain I know for sure is not right, and for local host ive tried localhost, my LAN IP, and hostname.
