  • Nearest I can figure—and someone else in educational publishing can probably explain it better—this is a single, discrete chunk of an activity that students complete as part of a lesson. The content of the lesson doesn't matter, in terms of the learning object, so much as the architecture of the activity. In this way, the learning object can be "lifted" and used with other topics on the subject, or even other subjects.
