  • noun A genus of fossil plants of the coal-measures, closely related to Lepidodendron, with prominent (often very prominent) transverse rhombic leaf-cushions, at the lower end of each of which is a leafscar of the same shape, together with three smaller punctate vascular scars, the central one being the largest and triangular in form. This genus is found in various parts of Europe, in the United States, and in Canada.
