- noun The liquid obtained in the manufacture of glucose or starch-sugar by sufficiently boiling starch with dilute sulphuric acid, neutralizing the acid with calcium carbonate, and separating the calcium sulphate by subsidence, before filtration and the concentration which produces ‘heavy-liquor.’
