  • noun In a steam-engine, the slot or opening in the curved member of a Stephenson link-motion for a locomotive or other reversing-engine. This member is called the link, and in the opening or slot slides the link-block by which the valve is operated as the two eccentrics operate the link itself. See Stephenson link-motion.
