Definitions

from The Century Dictionary.

  • noun A disease of cattle, supposed to be caused by poisoning with one of the lupines, usually the white lupine. It is probable that the symptoms (fever, weakness, and distention of the abdomen) are due to the poisonous action of a fungus on the plants, rather than to any principle in the lupine itself.
