  • noun A genus of protozoans of Haeckel's group Catallacta, characterized by a ciliate globular body consisting of a single layer of simple pyriform nucleated cells bound together by gelatinous processes converging to a common center, the animal having the form-value of a vesicular morula or planula. M. planula is the Norwegian flimmer-ball.
