March 31st, 2010 at 3: 40 pm castorp, it's obvious there are limits to what you can do with these numbers. and it's also obvious that mankiw is not claiming we should start looking at absolute taxes exclusively or even primarily instead of relative taxes. you yourself say that the absolute number is "not the most important number" but then argue as if it's totally irrelevant and a huge offense to all that is decent to even bring it up.
