  • noun An infectious disease of young cattle existing enzoötically throughout tropical and subtropical South America. It is characterized by the formation of abscesses of the size of a walnut or a hen's egg upon the legs. The cause is a minute oval bacterium which closely resembles the bacillus of fowl-cholera.
