I've been cooking for company for more than 30 years and have gone through all the cycles from Julia Child's veal marengo to Rick Moonen's miso-glazed Chilean sea bass with shredded daikon.
Looking now at those early cookbooks, like the faces of dearly loved friends, they hold deep memories: veal marengo, all-day pates, quenelles (what was I thinking?).
