  • noun A piece of mechanism by which the rollingmovement of a ship, in still water or amongst waves, is reproduced on a small scale. It consists of two parts, a pendulum of special shape representing the ship, called the “navipendulum,” and a device for giving to the pendulum the motions of a ship.
