When a large number of adult nematomorphs are crowded into a small area, they wind themselves together into a giant mass resembling a Gordian knot.
Actually, nematomorphs (gordian worms) are a separate phylum closely related to nematodes.
While they may look like nematodes, nematomorphs have a much simpler reproductive system, are free-living throughout their adult life, and have larvae that look like little priapulid worms.
