  • adjective (Anat.) Of, pertaining to, or discovered by, Filippo Pacini (1812-1883), an Italian physician of the 19th century.
  • adjective small oval bodies terminating some of the minute branches of the sensory nerves in the skin of the fingers, mesentery, integument and other parts of the body; the corpuscula lamellosa; called also Vater's corpuscles and Vater-Pacini corpuscles. They are sensitive to pressure, and supposed to be tactile organs.
