  • Of the ancient goats: applied, in the phrase paleotragine section, to a subdivision of the family Bovidæ, including certain fossil forms distinguished from existing sections of the family by laterally compressed horn-cores, like those of the modern goats, and upper molars resembling those of the brachyodont antelopes.
