  • noun In certain manufacturing processes, as in salt-boiling, the incrustation which forms on the inner surface of an evaporating-pan by deposition of less soluble substances, such as calcium carbonate or sulphate. If the incrustation becomes thick and compact it is sometimes called pan-stone.
