  • A grade of zoantharian Anthozoa in which the primitive bilateral symmetry of the zoöid is retained, or at most is only partially obscured by the secondary development of mesenteries in some of the primary intermesenterial chambers. It includes the orders Antipathidea, Cerianthidea, Zoanthidea, Edwardsiidea, and Proactiniæ: contrasted with Cryptoparamera.
