Definitions
from The Century Dictionary.
- noun The gilding of silver or other ware in part, as the interior of a cup, or an external design; now, specifically, the production of decorative effects by gilding, with the aid of an electric current, a metallic object, as of silver, parts of the surface having in advance been coated with a non-conducting varnish, which is removed when the work is finished, so that the design is presented in gold deposited only on the unvarnished parts of the surface.
