  • noun In photographic surveying, a plate of glass or other transparent material containing a diagram of convergent perspective lines with scales. The instrument is used to facilitate the reproduction of the plan and elevation of an object or of topographical points, by placing it over a perspective drawing or a photograph of the object or points.
