  • noun A large genus of parasitic fungi of the order Dothidiales, having the black stroma embedded in the surface of the host. The spores are unicellular, and hyaline or yellowish. About 200 species are known, most of which are tropical. P. graminis is common on grass-leaves. See Polythrincium.
