  • noun A chart published officially by the hydrographic office of any nation, showing the average wind and weather, magnetic variations, ocean currents, fog, ice, temperatures, storm-paths, the best routes for steamers and sailing-vessels, buoys, beacons, lighthouses, storm- and weather-signals, dangerous rocks or shoals, and other information that may be of value to navigators.
