  • A tribe of monocotyledonous plants, of the order Araceæ, consisting of the genus Pistia, and distinguished by the unappendaged spadix united to the back of the longer spathe, the two connate stamens, the numerous orthotropous ovules, and the single soft berry which constitutes the fruit.
