  • noun In gearing, the imaginary cone on the surface of which lie the pitch-circles of a bevel-gear; an imaginary cone generated by the revolution of a line drawn from the intersection of the axes of two bevel-gears, to a point in the plane of the axes whose distance from the axes is proportional to the diameters of the gears.
