  • noun In botany, the occurrence of more than one independent stage or form in the life-cycle of a species, as in certain uredineousfungi, such as Puccinia graminis, which passes through three stages. See heterœcism, Puccinia, Uredineæ, etc. Also spelled pleomorphism.
