  • noun A genus of aquatic plants, type of the order Podostemaceœ and tribe Eupodostemeæ, characterized by the two stamens with filaments united more than half their length, the two awl-shaped and entire stigmas, and an equally two-valved, oval, obtuse pod with two cells and eight ribs.
