  • n. A genus of diseomycetous fungi, of the family Mollisiace√¶, having sessile, smooth, dark, waxy ascocarps and unicellular hyaline spores. Over 60 species have been described, some of which are parasitic. P. Trifolii is a common species which produces a leaf-spot disease of clover. P. Medicaginis causes leaf-spot of alfalfa.
