- noun In cytology, a form of reduction in which the number of the chromosomes of the germ-nuclei is reduced without reducing the number of ids or chromatin granules: opposed to true reduction, in which the number of both chromosomes and granules is reduced to one half. Pseudoreduction occurs in the roundworm of the horse (Ascaris megalocephala).
