  • noun An extinct genus of ganoid fishes of the family Eugnathidæ, having the head and opercular bones ornamented with ridges of ganoin, minute teeth, and thick scales, much longer than deep, grooved longitudinally on the outer side. It occurs in the Upper Lias of Europe and the Trias of Carinthia and of Connecticut.
