  • Segmented, as a vertebra of many of the lower vertebrates which consists of a neural arch resting on a separate piece on each side, the pleurocentrum, which in turn rests on a single median piece below, the intercentrum: having or characterized by such vertebræ, as a fish or batrachian, or the backbone of such animals. See embolomerous.
