Salad made (greens, mushrooms, cheese, basil/herb vinaigrette), pasta made (radiatore with creamy Caesar sauce), and everything ready to start cooking for the Two-Pepper Chicken (peppers sliced, tomatoes chopped, chicken chopped and seasoned).
A creamy sauce or one with a lot of complexity pairs well with a shaped pasta, such as radiatore, orecchiette, or fusilli, that will catch the sauce in its curves and ruffles.

The rain had finally stopped, so I walked the two blocks to Pioneer Courthouse Square, got a small radiatore with pesto from the pasta cart on Sixth and Yamhill, and headed back to eat at my desk.
The cousins shipped the 300-pound youngster, christened Rodolfo but nicknamed Raddy after the radiatore pasta which he particularly favored, first to Las Vegas -- where anybody with five crisp hundred dollar bills in his hand could pass the bar exam -- and then to the offices of Kinzel, Crotta and Mack in Los Angeles.
That dish is a neat variation on an old standby, though I don't think the chunky, nuggety radiatore pasta is a good choice.
